The red clover, beech tree and the forget-me-not are the national emblems of Denmark. The people of Denmark regard the red clover for its medicinal values. The plant has a rich content of a number of minerals like calcium, chromium, magnesium etc and is very effective for the treatment of diseases like respiratory problems, cancer, inflammation of breast and also in eczema, psoriasis and various other ailments. It is also a good expectorant and improves circulation and cleanses the liver.

Similarly, the highly ornamental beech tree is also adopted as a national emblem because of its utilitarian value. Apart from its aesthetic appeal, the tree is noted for its usefulness. One of its species is known to produce a high quality timber. Again, in order to imitate the taste of the wood barrel aging, small fragments of beech wood are used during the process of brewing the beer. Moreover, the pulp of the tree is used in the making of a textile fibre.

The forget-me-not needs to be mentioned as the floral emblem of the country. The flower’s name signifies its association with romance and tragic fate. It also symbolizes faithfulness and enduring love.
