Goldilocks
Goldilocks is also known by the name ‘forsythia’. This deciduous plant is a shrub which belongs to the family of ‘Oleaceae’. The plant is known to have six different species, all of which grow to an average height of about two or three feet. The simple leaves, placed in opposite directions, are dark green and oval shaped. The golden flowers grow in clusters around the terminal end of the stem. The lovely flowers contain four petals and blossom during March and April. The fruit appears in a dry capsular shape and contains many winged seeds.
The shrub grows well in average quality, moderately wet soils which must be well-drained. It grows happily in a sunny climate but thrives well in partial shades as well. The plant is known for its adaptability and grows well even in urban surroundings. Goldilocks are familiar in Asia and a few species are also to be found in south-east Europe.
This popular plant with its elegant flowers can be found in the gardens, used for landscaping and to form borders. They are also popular as cut flowers.
