Eustoma
Eustoma is commonly known as ‘Lisianthus’ and the plant flowers in summers, from May to September. The blossoms are seen in shades of white, blue, pink and lavender. The beautiful flowers are large, 2-3 inches in height and look similar to rose buds, blooming prettily on slender stems. The flowers are mostly shaped like deep cups or bells. Depending upon the different available species, the flowers can either be single or double blossoms.
Eustoma is widely found in the U.S.A and Asia. This biennial or half woody annual plant grows to a maximum height of 1 foot. The plant grows best in soils that are well drained. It requires the soft sunlight of the morning and then needs shade from the afternoon sun. The plant can even withstand severe drought conditions though it is propagated by its seeds.
The ornamental look of the Eustomas makes them a favourite garden flower. It is popularly used for landscaping and for putting up borders and forming flower beds. It is essentially famous for being a good cut flower and was used for trading as well as for decoration in ancient times.
